Jun 20, 2025 – Version 3.1
  • Added new menu option "Save View" (F9) — temporarily stores the current photo view, including filters, sort order, visible files, and the selected photo.
  • Added "Restore View" (F10) — restores the saved view and reselects the previously selected photo.
  • Fixed: When changing thumbnail size, the selected photo could move off-screen. The grid now auto-scrolls to keep it visible.

Jun 10, 2025 – Version 3.0
  • JpgKeywords is now a 64-bit Windows application (previously 32-bit) and can no longer be installed on 32-bit systems.
  • The metadata field used for reading and writing keywords has changed. Prior to version 3.0, the IPTC:Keywords field was used. Starting with version 3.0, the program now uses the XMP-dc:Subject field for keywords.
  • Keywords are now cached (previously only thumbnails were cached). As a result, opening directories – even with a large number of files – is now virtually instantaneous.
  • Improved thumbnail management. Resizing thumbnails is now instant.
  • Added toolbar buttons to change thumbnail size on the fly (also available via Ctrl + Num+ and Ctrl + Num–).
  • Improved performance of the "Replace Keyword" operation.
  • Added the ability to edit the "Date Taken" value (add/edit/delete).
  • Added new statistics grouped by date.
  • Added display options in image view: date taken, day of the week, GPS coordinates, and camera model. Also added the ability to open the photo location in Google Maps.
  • Added a new filter: "Filter by Mismatched Filename/Date Taken" – useful for detecting files with incorrect or inconsistent names.
  • Added option to configure the number of CPU cores used (Processors count to be used).
  • Added option to adjust the toolbar icon size.
  • Added an "Expand List" button to enlarge the keyword list to full window width for easier viewing.
  • Added small help buttons in various places, providing explanations about the corresponding settings.
  • The program’s help documentation has been updated to reflect all changes in version 3.0.

  • Fixed a bug involving files with the same name in different subfolders – sometimes thumbnails for those files were not created.

  • Copy/paste now works within the keyword list itself, not just between photos.
  • Added support for copy/paste between two instances of JpgKeywords, and also with text editors (e.g. Notepad).
  • The program title in the Windows taskbar now shows the last part of the folder path, useful when multiple instances are open.

Sep 12, 2020 – Version 1.1
  • Added "Open with JpgKeywords" to the folder context menu in Windows Explorer – right-click a folder to open it directly in the program.
  • Added keyword statistics: number of files, total keywords, average keywords per file, and keyword usage counts.
  • Improved usability – no need to click in the "Filter Keywords" field. Just click a photo and start typing to filter the list.
